K9 Savior Foundation, in Mason TN, is a 501c3 non-profit dog rescue and sanctuary. K9 Savior was founded and is the life's passion for Mr Bill Funk, a 73 year old retired Marine, and his family.
Mr Bill has rescued many dogs from the streets, bad living conditions, and abusive situations through the years. He and his family have turned their home, their lives and 9 acre farm over to the love and care of these dogs. At present, there are 130 dogs on the property. About 75 are actively available for adoption. The others are what we call "Lifers", dogs who are too old, too feral, or have severe health issues. This is the "Sanctuary" part of K9 Savior Foundation. These dogs live out their lives in comfort and genuine love.
In April 2013 the property was devastated by a tornado that destroyed the barn and many of the outdoor kennels, killing 2 of the animals in the process. The storm also took down many old trees that provided shade and shelter for those outdoor kennels. In the past year and a half, since that storm, an awesome group of people have come together with Mr Bill and his family to bring organization and structure to K9 Savior.
Since we began the process in May 2014, we've gotten official registration with the State of Tennessee, as an incorporated, non-profit organization. Recently, we have also gotten our 501c3 status with the Federal Government. This allows us to to solicit tax deductible donations and apply for grants and other benefits to keep the Foundation operating.
